Se Therin's launching was late this year due to the covid19 pandemic. DJ & I returned from Florida June 4th, much later this year than the norm. We had decided to stay there until the crisis in the northeast subsided some.
The Mudheads delayed the start of the Donzo WNR series from the normal third Wednesday of May till that of June; the 24th, which gave me a couple weeks to prepare.
Wild Bill's boat ramp was closed for paving, so Adam & I launched at the Mystic River East ramp. Then I motored down river to meet Adam & Dan at the slip to assemble the boat, working well into the evening.
I arrived Spicers at 1400 with Josh waiting.
We launched and finished the hard stuff & rigging by 1600.
Adam came by assisted some, but limited due to surgery May 17th.
Josh left for doctor's appointment.
Adam & I off to the Seahorse for a couple beers.
Adam met me at Spicers at around 1300 & launched around 1330.
We got the mast up & most of the lines run before calling it quits to go work on Desna- drilling holes for the new Harken genoa tracks & cars.
It was an unusually cool day.
Brian & I floated SeTherin today off the trailer, motored to our slip, raised the mast and accomplished most of the setup. We then retired to the Seahorse for a well-deserved meal. This was the first tow of SeTherin by our recently purchased Nissan Murano as the ’95 Ford Explorer has been retired. J
SeTherin was back in the water a bit before noon on Tuesday (6/05/12). I had the mast up by mid-afternoon; gin-pole worked fine. Brian came by after work for a couple hours and we got a lot done prior to my Mudhead meeting at 1930.
Yesterday, I finished setup well enough to attempt our Wednesday night race.
Crew: Brian, Dan, Bob & I. The thundershowers passed us by, yet we still got wet in the periphery, off and on. After two delays, a race was started at 1830, only to be abandoned a few minutes later due to lack of wind. Much rust to be worn off, and a long to do list.
Next week...
Working race committee for this weekend's Off Soundings Regatta.
